Bunoan is an artist, curator and researcher based in Manila, Philippines. She received her BFA in Art History from the University of the Philippines in 1997, and taught in the UP College of Fine Arts from 1997 to 1998. From 1999 to 2004, she led Big Sky Mind, an independent artist-run space that supported progressive works by contemporary artists, filmmakers, writers, and musicians. In 2003, she received the Thirteen Artist Award from the Cultural Center of the Philippines and in 2007 the Silverlens Foundation Completion Grant.

She uses everyday objects and objets trouvés to create installations, sculptures, photographs and videos that explore the physical and metaphorical dimensions of the material. Her work addresses memory, personal and collective experiences and the everyday in the context of larger social, cultural and historical issues. The ephemeral and makeshift quality of her work underscores an alternative practice that reflects on the ruptures and ruins of contemporary art and life.

Her works have been shown in galleries, museums and alternative art spaces in Manila, across Asia and the Pacific and USA including Center for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne, 4th Gwangju Biennale, Singapore Art Museum, Busan Biennale Sea Art Festival, Asian Art Museum, Walter McBean Galleries in San Francisco and Redcat Gallery in Los Angeles, USA and Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney. From 2007 to 2013, she worked as the researcher for the Philippines for Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong and initiated special research projects on artist-run spaces in Manila and The Chabet Archive. She is currently the co-founder of King Kong Art Projects Unlimited in Manila.
