The webpoem eyes like flowers (2023) connects the effects of extractive algorithms with the ecological and social fallouts of mining, drawing attention to the links between the colonization of bodies and space, both digital and physical. In the era of the metaverse, attention capture will increasingly become more sophisticated as eye tracking technologies collect detailed information about users. At the same time, the fabrication of these infrastructures and devices and the server power to keep them running requires resources, depletes landscapes and contributes to CO2 emissions. Goni believes that what is at stake is not only to regain attention, or to find new ways to be attentive, but also to tend to the complex systems that prop up this economy and make them more livable for both humans and non-humans.
