Saúl Villa Walls is currently director of Cultural Development in Yucatan. He was previously director of Visual Arts at the Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatan. He studied graphic techniques from 1976 to 1982 with Frank Conelly, Mark Balakjian and Juan José Torralba in London and Barcelona. He has exhibited individually in spaces such as Museo Carrillo Gil, Museo Experimental El Eco, Casa Luis Barragán, Galerie in Traklhaus Salzburg, Galería de Arte Mexicano, Galería OMR, Galería Arte Contemporáneo and Galería Juan Martín. He has participated in several group exhibitions in museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Museo de Arte Moderno México, Museo Carrillo Gil and Galerie in Traklhaus Salzburg. He is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte del FONCA.
His work is in the public collections of: The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, MUAC Mexico, Museo de Arte Moderno Mexico, Fundación Televisa Mexico Collection, El Colegio Nacional, Academia Mexicana de Medicina, IAGO Oaxaca, Museo Nacional de la Estampa Mexico, Land Salzburg Austria, ICY Yucatan. His research focuses on problems related to painting, the pictorial and the teaching of art.
